In this tutorial, you will know how to configure your settings in WordPress after first installation. It’s crucial that you configure your basic settings first in a proper manner. I hope you will find it very simple to configure settings in WordPress by following the few steps below:

Step 1: Log in to your Dashboard.

Step 2: On the left hand side, Click > Settings on the menu.

It will open the General Settings page. From here you can change:

Step 3: You can change the General Settings how you want and then scroll a little bit and Click > Save Changes.

Step 4: If you scroll down a little, you will see Writing, Reading, Discussion, Media, Privacy and Permalinks under settings option.

Now select one by one and start changing the settings that you desire. On the Writing Settings, you can configure your settings in WordPress to writing your posts. You can do the below things:

You can also choose a size for the post box, and enter it on the first line.

Again, scroll down and set up your email posting.

When you are done, Click > Save Settings, and the next page will verify that your settings were saved.

Scroll down a little bit, on the menu click on the Reading settings.

Step 5: Click > Reading Settings. It opens the option to set things like how many blog pages to show.

You can either select the option to show the full text or a summary of each article. If you are done, scroll down and Click > Save Changes.

Step 6: Continue to scroll and Click >Discussion in the main menu in the left side.

It opens the Discussion Settings page. You can modify stuffs that related to comments or avatars.

You can also decide on whether you force users to log in to comment or not. At the same time, you would disallow unapproved comments. While configure your settings in WordPress make sure that you check an administrator must always approve comments to avoid spams.

If done, Click > Save Changes and your settings are now saved.

Step 7: Now select Media from the menu on the left side of the Dashboard. Here, you can adjust settings like the maximum permitted image dimensions and image alignment.

Step 8: In this step, Click > Privacy Settings from the left side of your Dashboard. Here, you will choose whether or not to allow bots and search engines to access your blog. Click > Save Changes and you are done.

Step 9: Finally, move to the Permalinks settings on the menu. Here, you can decide what type of URL structure is used for your website.
