Peter Dazeley has been working on a most enviable project. Unseen London is a new photo-led book that snoops around the London buildings that are off limits to most people. Among his conquests are bank vaults, abandoned theatres, ghost stations, waterlogged bunkers and a working prison. Over 50 locations, humble and grand, are captured by his discerning lens, with commentary by Mark Daly. Some of the buildings are publicly accessible, but in these cases, Dazeley has a back-stage pass to explore the lesser-seen parts. Other locations, such as Big Ben, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Abbey Road Studios are open for occasional tours, and here the photographers’ images will whet your appetite for taking a squiz around. This is a superior ‘coffee table book’ with much to reward both the eye and the urban explorer’s bucket list.
